Mr. John Smithhisler
Chief Executive Officer
Saint Vincent Hospital
123 Summer Street
Worcester, MA 01608
Dear Mr. Smithhisler:
This is to commend the exceptional care and consideration that was provided to me during my admission to Saint Vincent Hospital, 9-10 June 2009, Room 2202.
Any hospitalization involves a measure of discomfort and apprehension, regardless of the length or cause of stay. The entire professional and support staffs mitigated any anxiety that i had. This was true from my attending physician, Dr. Allen Filiberti, and primary care physician, Dr. George Abraham, to the Preadmission Surgery Center, the Cath Lab, the Nursing Staff, Dietary Services, Housekeeping, Transportation and Food Services. Everyone whom I met, irrespective of their position, went to extraordinary lengths to assure my comfort and care. From my previous experience with Doctors Abraham and Filiberti, I expected no less from the Department of Medicine, however, I have since learned that this philosophy of excellence extends throughout Saint Vincent Hospital.
Although I hesitate to recognize individuals, as I will certainly overlook some, I would be remiss in not mentioning the following professional staff.
Mark Clark, an exercise physiologist with Saint Vincent Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program, patiently shared his time and expertise in explaining cardiac anatomy and physiology. Although I am unable to attend the rehabilitation program due to professional commitments, I would unhesitatingly engage Mr. Clark as a coach, should he have been available, to improve my running or what now passes as running.
When I reviewed the nutrition literature following my discharge, I had several questions. I called the number on the handouts and was surprised to find that this was the hospital's Dietary Department. While I left a message, I did not expect a return call, as I was no longer a patient. An hour later Jessica Watson, a dietician, called and advised that this Department was more than willing to support former patients. She answered all of my questions and encouraged me to call should I have any future concerns. Ms. Watson's proficiency in her discipline and consideration were most appreciated.
Although I lie closer to some of the better known Boston hospitals, I will always choose Saint Vincent; I do not believe that I would receive this quality of care anywhere else.
Please accept and extend my gratitude to all of the referenced Departments. It is a pleasure to recognize and commend their dedication to excellence.
Sincerely, -- William, East Bridgewater, MA

Dear Mr. John E. Smithhisler, President and CEO:
I am writing this letter to inform you about the wonderful care I received at Saint Vincent Hospital. I was there for a total hip replacement June 15-18 and was on 33 South.
The doctors, nurses, PCA staff, student nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists were all fantastic and there was excellent communication between them. In addition, the dietary staff, cleaning staff, and maintenance people were all cheerful, friendly, and energetic in their duties.
These people, not only attended to ones needs as a patient but were compassionate, caring and efficient as well.
I have had 3 major surgical procedures done at Saint Vincent Hospital and would recommend anyone to your facility. I would rate that hospital at the highest level possible and congratulate you and your people for putting together a tremendous team. Keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
William S., -- Professor Emeritus N.C. -- Thompson, CT
Let me tell you about my experiences at Saint Vincent’s Hospital. I seem to have become a “frequent flyer” when it comes to needing hospital care. Although no one really wants to be in the hospital, I’m so glad Saint Vincent’s was where I chose to go for care.
My health condition was complicated and several times last year and again this year I needed the services of medical, surgical and ICU staff. Each time I was admitted at Saint Vincent’s I was treated professionally and with courtesy by EVERYONE, including the physicians, nurses, personal care assistants, respiratory & physical therapists, phlebotomists, dietary staff, and housekeeping who took the time to listen and explained everything that was taking place so that I felt very comfortable.
Over the last few years I’ve had the “pleasure” of being hospitalized at other facilities. My experiences at Saint Vincent’s were far superior to those other hospitals
When ever I have to be hospitalized at Saint Vincent I feel like I am among family and being well cared for in a most timely fashion. Sincerely, Rob
