Mission Statement

To promote scholarship by healthcare providers and to foster the advancement of medical knowledge through educational activities and scientific research, and therein, to enhance the medical care and the health and well being of the people of Central Massachusetts. Improving patient care through education, training, research, and scholarship.

Scholarships Available

The Saint Vincent Hospital Education and Research Fund, Inc. will be accepting applications for its Scholarship Programs in the spring of 2010.

Alex Drapos Scholarship
Purpose: To help individuals become nurses and allied health professionals (i.e., respiratory therapist, physician assistant, physical therapist, radiology technician, etc).

Eligibility: Applicant must be a current employee of Saint Vincent Hospital or a relative of a current employee. Applicant must also be accepted into, or currently enrolled in, a certificate or undergraduate training program.



Mary Brunell Scholarship
Purpose: To support Saint Vincent Hospital nurses who wish to advance their education through a Bachelor, Master or Doctoral nursing program.

Eligibility: Applicant must be a current employee of Saint Vincent Hospital and must be accepted into, or currently enrolled in, an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

Criteria for Applicants and Examples of Projects


Applicants

  • Saint Vincent Hospital employees
  • other healthcare providers who have a contractual relationship with the Hospital
  • clinical departments, divisions, nursing units or subspecialty laboratories at the Hospital

Categories of Projects Potentially Funded

  • clinical research studies or other scholarly projects;
  • nursing, medical or other healthcare provider focused symposia or conferences;
  • medical educational activities for Worcester area residents, including health screening programs;
  • the development or acquisition of educational materials for healthcare professionals or for patients who utilize the Hospital;
  • attendance at professional meetings by a healthcare provider seeking to acquire new expertise or knowledge or to enhance his/her clinical or technical skills.
