Saint Vincent Hospital’s Community Benefit Program Funds 18 of Greater Worcester’s Charitable Organizations
Worcester, MA -- Saint Vincent Hospital today announced that its Community Benefit Program will fund grants for 18 charitable organizations from the Greater Worcester area. The grant awards will be presented at a special luncheon reception scheduled for Tuesday, June 10th at the hospital.
“Saint Vincent Hospital plays an integral role in the health of our neighbors and the residents of Central Massachusetts,” noted John E. Smithhisler, President and CEO of Saint Vincent Hospital and a co-chair of the Community Benefits Committee. “And our Community Benefits Program is one way that we give back to our community. Each year the program seeks out grant proposals for health-related initiatives that serve vulnerable populations in the region. This year our grants cover a full spectrum of projects and services including HIV testing and counseling; children’s environmental health; the prevention and management of diabetes in the elderly; weight management; and providing support and prenatal care for women in crisis pregnancies.”
The 18 organizations to benefit from the hospital’s 2008 grant funding are: AIDS Project
Worcester, Inc.; American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts; Catholic Charities Diocese of Worcester; Centro Las Americas; Children’s Friend; Dismas House of Massachusetts; Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center, Inc.; Genesis Club, Inc.; Great Brook Valley Health Center, Inc.; McAuley Nazareth Home for Boys; Multi-Service Center, Inc.; Pernet Family Health Service, Inc.; Rachel’s Table; Saint Paul’s Elder Outreach; Venerini Learning Center; Visitation House; YMCA of Central Massachusetts; and the YWCA of Central Massachusetts.
