Digital Mammography

Digital imaging is fast becoming the standard in breast imaging.  In addition to providing a very detailed image for review, it allows for reduced examination times. Recent studies of digital mammography have shown it to be a very effective tool in the early diagnosis of breast cancer, especially in younger women.

Saint Vincent Hospital offers advanced digital imaging geared toward serving the community's varied diagnostic needs.

The Department of Radiology provides a full array of diagnostic, interventional,  and therapeutic sevices.  The department is staffed by board-certified radiologists and supports a fully accredited independent radiology residency program. Services are provided on a scheduled or on an as-needed emergency basis to both inpatients and outpatients, from newborns to seniors by radiologists, residents, and specially trained technicians.

Digital Imaging in the Radiology Department features a Picture Archival and Communications System (PACS), which allows the Department of Radiology to electronically archive all image data. The PACS features diagnostic workstations for soft copy interpretation by the Radiologists. Images are also available via the Radiology web server on any PC throughout the hospital. The Department of Radiology also features a voice recognition system that enhances the dictation process and report turnaround time.
