Saint Vincent Hospital's Department of Anesthesiology provides comprehensive 24-hour/7 day a week coverage to patients requiring general and regional anesthesia for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The Department emphasizes the entire spectrum of perioperative care including the preoperative anesthesia evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia techniques and the postoperative acute pain management service. Experts in the areas of cardiac, obstetric, pediatric and ambulatory anesthesia are available. Additionally, the Department serves as a clinical teaching site for student nurse anesthetists and physicians in training undertaking anesthesia rotations. The newly reorganized Chronic Pain Management Clinic treats patients with chronic pain using state-of-the-art pain management techniques.
