Room Accommodations and Services

Room Assignment:

Your accommodations at Saint Vincent Hospital will be either a private or semiprivate room.   Your room assignment is generally based on your admitting diagnosis and bed availability on the day of your admission.

Equipment in Your Room:

Every hospital room is equipped with certain devices, some for medical reasons, others for your convenience and safety.   Some of these include television/radio, and adjustable bed, oxygen outlet, the patient education channel and call bell system.   The staff will show you how to use the equipment when you arrive.

Comfort and Cleaning:

Each room is equipped with a thermostat to control the temperature for ideal comfort.   If you need assistance with adjusting the comfort level, please ask any staff member to help.   Housekeeping service is provided daily.    If you need additional housekeeping services please ask one of your care team members to contact housekeeping for you.

Leaving Your Room:

We ask that you NOT leave your bed or chair without assistance.   Your medical condition could make you unsteady.   We want you to call for help even if you think you don’t need it.   It is important that the staff know where you are at all times.   If you leave the unit please inform your nurse and sign out with the secretary.   It is also necessary to sign back in when you return.

Telephones:

There are phones at every bedside for your use.   Please be sure to keep your loved ones up to date on your condition.   We ask that you identify one spokesperson from your family for staff to communicate with.   Multiple calls to the nursing staff take them away from caring for the patient and could cause privacy issues.
