When I arrived at the Vernon Hill Campus of Saint Vincent Hospital as a medical student in 1998, I was most impressed with the collegiality and sense of family amongst the house officers and medical staff. Many of the medical staff chose to stay at Saint Vincent Hospital after the completion of their training in order to remain a part of this family and to teach the next generation of physicians. I wanted to join the Saint Vincent family. When I arrived to the "new" Saint Vincent Hospital as an intern in 2000, I was amazed by both the new facility and its modern technology. But I was most impressed and comforted by the fact that the sense of family amongst all the workers at Saint Vincent Hospital remained intact. Our mission has always been to provide excellent patient care in both a dignified and friendly manner. The Saint Vincent Hospital administration also remains both very supportive of its workers and grateful for their efforts. As someone who is Greek Orthodox Christian, I also appreciate the Catholic influence on patient care initiated by the Sisters of Providence, including love, charity, and responsibility. I enjoy working at Saint Vincent Hospital because we provide superb patient care and work as a collegial medical team.
