Reliant Medical Group’s Bariatric Medicine Program is made up of a team of dedicated healthcare providers focused on helping patients who are significantly overweight. The program combines the most recent knowledge and techniques in nutrition, medicine, psychology, and surgery to achieve weight loss and improve health. Treatment is centered on making permanent eating and behavior changes in addition to surgical solutions.

Who is eligible?

Talk with your primary care physician about whether or not this program is right for you. If your doctor feels that you may be a candidate, you will be referred into the program. One of the criteria to participate is a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more. If you have certain medical conditions, you may qualify with a BMI of 35 or more.

Are you ready for commitment?

The Bariatric Medicine Program is not a “quick fix” for weight loss. Success involves time and commitment to change. Time is needed for appointments with physicians, surgeons, nutrition education specialists and behavior medicine specialists. There are a number of steps required to achieve success.

A fully accredited program

The Bariatric Medicine Program at Saint Vincent Hospital in association with Reliant Medical Group has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons, an organization dedicated to improving and safeguarding the care of surgical patients.

How to get started:

First, attend our Bariatric Information Meeting that is held monthly at the 5 North Conference Room at Saint Vincent Hospital. Call the Reliant Medical Group Surgery Department at (508) 368-3190 to register.
