Lung Cancer Center at Saint Vincent Hospital

Time is precious. Every day counts. Get everything you need accurately, quickly, compassionately at the Lung Cancer Center at Saint Vincent Hospital.

The Lung Cancer Center at Saint Vincent Hospital is the first of its kind in greater Worcester, providing patients with comprehensive, multidisciplinary lung cancer expertise under one roof.

The goal of the Lung Cancer Center is to offer patients an integrated and highly responsive approach to the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing supportive care of thoracic cancers.
Lung cancer remains by far the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women in the United States. An estimated 172,500 cases will be diagnosed and over 160,000 people will die of it this year, based on American Cancer estimates. Here at home, the news is not better. According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Worcester and Fitchburg have a higher than expected incidence of lung cancer. In addition, Boston area lung cancer patients reportedly experience the longest waiting times in the country to be seen by physicians and specialists.

At the heart of the program is a promise. Every patient who contacts the Center will be seen by a specialist within 48 business hours of their first call. Patients at the Lung Cancer Center will benefit from our commitment to providing the latest in diagnostic technology including a state-of-the-art PET/CT scanner with three dimensional capabilities to localize tumors. His team of two highly trained, board certified Thoracic Surgeons provide a complete range of the most modern techniques and procedures available in a well established, progressive division of Thoracic Surgery.  These include major full Open Thoracotomy for resection of complex lung tumors, and Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (V.A.T.S.) for minimally invasive surgery.
