Diagnostic Imaging

Diagnostic ImagingThe Department of Radiology provides a full array of diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic radiologic and nuclear medicine services including digital mammography. The department is staffed by board-certified radiologists and supports a fully accredited independent radiology residency program. Services are provided on a scheduled on an emergency basis to both inpatients and outpatients, from newborn to seniors, by radiologists, residents, and specially trained technologist.

Diagnostic Imaging includes:  All modalities of Radiology plus Non-Invasive Cardiology and the Vascular Lab.  For diagnostic evaluation there are two fully accredited Mammographic Suites, a stereotactic biopsy unit, computed radiography and digital fluoroscopy, three multi-slice CT scanners, digital angiography, ultrasound, and three gamma cameras with SPECT capability.

The Department of Radiology also features a state of the art 1.5 tesla MRI unit. Biopsies are routinely performed in multiple modalities and board certified nuclear medicine physicians oversee nuclear medicine studies.

The Department actively participates in the multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Digital Imaging in the Radiology Department features a Picture Archival and Communications System (PACS), which allows the Department of Radiology to electronically archive all image data. The PACS features diagnostic workstations for soft copy interpretation by the Radiologists. Images are also available via the Radiology web server on any PC throughout the hospital.* The Department of Radiology also features a voice recognition system that enhances the dictation process and report turnaround time.
