Emergency Department:
Volunteers over the age of 16 have the opportunity to serve as a communication link, support person and mediator between medical staff, patients and family members. Volunteers will visit each patient’s room to inquire if patients and their families have any specific needs, such as, a book, magazine, extra blanket, pillow or request to speak with their physician or nurse.

Center for Women & Infants:
Volunteers serve as receptionists at the front desk (days, evenings, and various hours are available).

Patient Satisfaction Rounds/Advance Directives:
Volunteers will have quality face-to-face interactions with patients on diverse units. They will have the opportunity to develop communication skills and provide education on various topics. Volunteers will identify patient satisfaction issues early in the patient's visit so that they may be corrected in a timely manner.

By helping patients complete an Advance Directive, volunteers provide a valuable service of assisting patients with preparing for a time when they are unable to make medical decisions by themselves.
