Welcome to the website of the cardiology fellowship program at St. Vincent Hospital! St. Vincent Hospital is a 348-bed acute care hospital located in Worcester, MA that offers comprehensive cardiovascular care in the heart of central Massachusetts. Our hospital’s Center for Heart and Vascular Services has been recognized in 2012 and 2013 as a Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital by Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters).

St. Vincent Hospital has long been a leader in cardiovascular care in Worcester, and an important aspect of that leadership is training the next generation of cardiologists through our ACGME-accredited general cardiology and interventional cardiology programs. We provide a rich clinical experience through our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories, including a new hybrid catheterization lab that opened in 2013, and noninvasive echocardiography lab where 2D studies, TEEs, exercise stress and dobutamine stress echocardiography are routinely performed. In addition, we have a busy inpatient consult service, electrophysiology service where a variety of ablations and device implants occur, active CCU service with daily teaching rounds and electives in congenital heart disease at Massachusetts General Hospital and on the consult service at the West Roxbury VA.

Our flexible elective structure gives fellows the opportunity to tailor their education to their interests whether it is advanced cardiac imaging, heart failure/transplant, vascular medicine or basic science research. Fellows are able to take full advantage of clinical experiences at any of the tertiary care centers in Boston. In addition, we have a daily noon educational conference, weekly cath conference and an outside speaker program which has featured leaders in cardiovascular medicine who lecture on cutting edge topics.

Our fellows graduate with the confidence that comes from close faculty mentorship and comprehensive clinical experience. We have an outstanding pass rate for the ABIM Cardiovascular Disease (general cardiology) exam. Additionally, fellows routinely take, and pass, the certifying exams from the National Board of Echocardiography and Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.

We invite you to learn more about our programs by visiting the various sections on this website! Welcome to the heart of expertise in cardiovascular care!

Sincerely,

Dr. Bonnie H. Weiner, MD, MSEC, MBA, FSCAI, FACC
