Cardiac Rehabilitation

The continuum of cardiac care includes Saint Vincent Hospital’s cardiac rehab specialists. It doesn’t matter who you are, or where you are in life. If you’ve had a heart attack, heart surgery or are experiencing heart difficulties, we want to help you get better as quickly as possible. And a big part of recovery from any heart condition is a personalized rehabilitation program.

At Saint Vincent Hospital, our cardiovascular rehab specialists work with patients to design a program that gets you up and moving after a heart attack or heart procedure. It’s important that your plan reflect your lifestyle, so we work with you on everything from exercise to nutrition so that your overall health improves as your heart recovers and returns to normal.

Cardiovascular Prevention

We also believe that a strong prevention program, grounded in wellness activities around diet and exercise, can strengthen hearts that may be in the early stages of developing problems.

Saint Vincent Hospital’s Cardiovascular Prevention Program is a comprehensive, advanced program for people with known cardiovascular diseases. We work with you and your physician to prevent further disease, while also boosting your physical, psychological, vocational and social health.

Benefits of the cardiac rehab program include:

  • Lower risk of cardiovascular disease progression
  • Improved cardiovascular fitness
  • Reduced risk of heart attack or other cardiovascular problems
  • Improved sense of well-being

Program participants meet with our cardiovascular team for an assessment, and then everyone works together to build a treatment plan consisting of:

  • Education (nutrition, weight management, smoking cessation and more)
  • Physical activity
  • Supervision
  • Counseling

You’ll learn about your risk factors, receive an exercise plan, get counseling and support and even learn about lipid management. And everything takes place at Saint Vincent Hospital, in the heart of Worcester, where we have a climate-controlled exercise area with special equipment for cardiac monitoring, a large classroom for seminars and workshops, and a full changing area with shower facilities.

If you are interested in the cardiac rehab program, speak to your physician or call the Cardiovascular Prevention Program at (508) 363-5177 and we will be happy to provide more information.
