Most medical experts agree that mothers-to-be benefit greatly from prenatal care. In fact, women who visit their health care provider regularly during pregnancy have healthier babies, are less likely to deliver prematurely and are less likely to have other serious medical problems related to pregnancy.
To help ensure that you receive proper prenatal care, Saint Vincent Hospital's Women's Health Center offers both prenatal and well woman gynecologic care. The Health Center is staffed by Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) who have a collaborative relationship with OB/GYN physicians at Saint Vincent Hospital.
Certified Nurse Midwives are Registered Nurses who successfully complete an accredited graduate education program and pass a national certification exam. Certified Nurse Midwives provide women's health care throughout the lifespan from adolescence through menopause. Your midwife will provide you with individualized care guided by evidence-based practices that have been tested and proven successful.
