Be Ready for Your Visit

If you’ll be staying at Saint Vincent Hospital, you can be assured we will do everything we can to take care of your basic needs, such as food, toiletries and hospital gowns. Here are some of the other items you may wish to bring with you, and what you may wish to leave at home.

Items to Bring with You

Here we’ve put together a short list of essentials you need to bring with you:

  • A complete list of all medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements
  • Lab and/or X-ray results done recently at another facility
  • A case for glasses, contacts and/or dentures
  • Insurance card (check with your health insurance company to understand the portion you’re responsible for, such as deductibles or co-pays)
  • Valid ID
  • Form of payment
  • A copy of any advance directives (e.g., living will, health care power of attorney)
  • For overnight stays, pack sleepwear, footwear and other personal items you may need

What Not to Bring

These items should be left home when you arrive for your stay:

  • Valuables, such as jewelry, wedding ring or money
  • Electrical appliances, such as TVs and radios
  • Cigarettes, alcohol or illegal drugs
