Saint Vincent Hospital Chief of Medicine named President of the American College of Physicians

May 21, 2021

Worcester, MA – May 20, 2021 – George M. Abraham, MD, MPH, FACP, FIDSA, is named President of the American College of Physicians (ACP) representing 163,000 internal medicine physicians (internists), related subspecialists, and medical students. Dr. Abraham is the Chief of Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital, and has served a term as President of the Medical Staff from 2012-2013.

Dr. George AbrahamA resident of Shrewsbury, MA, Dr. Abraham is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Chief of Medicine and Emeritus President of the Medical staff at Saint Vincent Hospital, and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services. Prior to his term as President-elect, he recently served as Chair of ACP’s Board of Governors and as Governor of ACP’s Massachusetts Chapter prior to that. Dr. Abraham is a Fellow of ACP (FACP), an honorary designation that recognizes ongoing individual service and contributions to the practice of medicine.

Dr. Abraham earned his medical degree from Christian Medical College in India and a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. His areas of professional interest and expertise include internal medicine and infectious disease.
