Worcester, MA – July 8, 2018 – Saint Vincent Hospital in Massachusetts is proud to name Brenda Valery-Bern as the July 2018 Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses Recipient.

Brenda Valery-Bern and colleaguesValery-Bern began her nursing career at Saint Vincent Hospital in August 2007. She currently works as a nurse on the Same Day Surgery unit.

Valery-Bern was nominated for the award by the family of a patient. They were very appreciative of the extra special effort she made to assist their nervous loved one before and after a procedure.

“The Same Day Surgery team wouldn’t be the same without Brenda,” shared JoAnne Piedrafite, chief nursing officer. “Her compassionate spirit and gentle approach to each patient are just two of the amazing qualities she possesses. It’s a great pleasure to celebrate her as our most recent Daisy RN Award recipient.”

The Daisy Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, a cancer patient who lost his battle after a brief period of time. The family was so impressed with the care and compassion the staff showed Patrick, they stated a foundation to have a way to honor nurses who demonstrate clinical excellence in a caring and compassionate manor.
