Saint Vincent Hospital Reminds Community to Stay Up-to-Date on Screenings and Treatments During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month In October

Oct 9, 2020

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates 4 out of 10 adults are delaying medical care because of concerns related to the pandemic.

BREAST~2

Worcester, MA- In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Saint Vincent Hospital is reminding the community to make their annual mammogram appointments. Early diagnosis of breast cancer can greatly increase the chance of successful treatment. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 4 out of 10 adults are delaying medical care because of concerns related to the pandemic. Saint Vincent Hospital has the protocols in place at its Cancer Center and Imaging offices to safely treat patients for their screening and oncologic needs.

“Each year, we take time out in October to recognize those patients and their families who have been affected by breast cancer.” said Carolyn Jackson, chief executive officer of Saint Vincent Hospital. “We want the community to know that our compassionate Cancer and Wellness team is here to support them beyond diagnosis and treatment.”

As part of a comprehensive approach to cancer care, the Saint Vincent Hospital Cancer and Wellness Center is a full-service breast care, cancer screening and treatment facility. The Saint Vincent Hospital Cancer and Wellness Center offers diagnostic 3D mammography, which is designed for a more accurate breast cancer screening, and allows the radiologist to examine breast tissue one layer at a time. Mammograms are also performed at the Saint Vincent Hospital Imaging Center at Grove Medical in Auburn. During the month of October, we would like to honor patients who have a scheduled mammogram by providing a small gift in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
