The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), the labor union that represents some of our staff members in various departments including environmental services, transportation and our patient care techs, is passing out leaflets outside our hospital today.

This activity is related to contract negotiations between our hospital and the UFCW. We are disappointed that the union has chosen to do this instead of continuing to negotiate in good faith.

We value our relationship with all our employees, and we are committed to resolving the contract negotiations.  We remain focused on our primary mission – providing safe, quality care to our patients.

Get ready to renew your Medicaid coverage.

Make sure your contact information is up to date, check your mail for a letter and complete your renewal form (if you get one).

Saint Vincent Hospital Reminds the Community to Stay Up-to-Date on Screenings and Treatments During National Cancer Survivors Day on June 7

Jun 4, 2020

Benefits of cancer screenings during COVID-19 pandemic can greatly outweigh the risks

Worcester, MA – Saint Vincent Hospital is marking the 33rd National Cancer Survivors Day on June 7th with a strong reminder to the community to make sure missed cancer screening appointments due to the COVID-19 pandemic are rescheduled. Early diagnosis of many types of cancer can greatly increase the chance of successful treatment. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, appointments for screenings of cervix, colon and breast cancers were down between 86% and 94% compared to average volumes in the three years before, according to Epic Health Research. The Saint Vincent Hospital Cancer and Wellness Center has protocols in place to safely treat and support patients with oncologic needs during this pandemic.

“We recognize that State orders and social distancing protocols have caused many people to cancel or delay regular screenings that they would have otherwise already had done,” said Carolyn Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Saint Vincent Hospital. “We want the community to know that we have strict COVID SAFETY protocols in place to safely care for patients in our facilities. If you have missed, or are behind schedule for an important screening, like a mammogram or colonoscopy, you will be able to reschedule in the coming weeks as more reopening guidelines are issued.”

Each year, Saint Vincent Hospital celebrates National Cancer Survivors Day at the Cancer and Wellness Center with a large party. This year, the hospital is honoring the day in a different capacity, but hopes cancer patients will celebrate their victories safely with their loved ones.
