The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), the labor union that represents some of our staff members in various departments including environmental services, transportation and our patient care techs, is passing out leaflets outside our hospital today.

This activity is related to contract negotiations between our hospital and the UFCW. We are disappointed that the union has chosen to do this instead of continuing to negotiate in good faith.

We value our relationship with all our employees, and we are committed to resolving the contract negotiations.  We remain focused on our primary mission – providing safe, quality care to our patients.

Get ready to renew your Medicaid coverage.

Make sure your contact information is up to date, check your mail for a letter and complete your renewal form (if you get one).

Saint Vincent Hospital Reopening Outpatient Services

Cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation to resume after five-month closure

Worcester, MA – January 19, 2022 – Saint Vincent Hospital is pleased to announce that it will be reopening Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in the coming weeks, two outpatient services closed in August due to staffing challenges.

“Our cardiac rehab and pulmonary rehab programs are instrumental in improving quality of life for many of our patients, and we are thrilled to be able to reopen them,” said Saint Vincent Chief Executive Officer Carolyn Jackson. “We look forward to restarting these programs because previous participants were thrilled with both the quality of the experience and the compassion of our teams.”

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a 12-week program that helps patients get up and moving after a heart attack or heart procedure. In this medically prescribed and supervised program, cardiovascular rehab specialists offer education, supervised physical activity and counseling to patients after hospitalization so their overall health improves as their heart recovers.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a 7- to 10-week outpatient program designed to help patients return to the activities of daily living with less shortness of breath, often following a recent hospitalization related to a respiratory condition. Patients receive education, respiratory medication, stress management, nutrition counseling and monitored exercise sessions.

“The reopening of these services is a starting point, and we look forward to opening more services as we move back towards normal operations,” Jackson said.
