Saint Vincent Hospital Celebrates Nurses Week 2019

May 8, 2019
Worcester, MA – Saint Vincent Hospital is hosting special activities from May 6th to May 9th in recognition of Nurses Week. May 6 is National Nurses Day and it marks the first day of National Nurses Week. This week is to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society. Some nurses began the celebration by wearing traditional nursing uniforms along with traditional nurse caps.

Our pastoral care team- led by Monsignor Peter Beaulieu- will be administering the Blessing of the Hands for nurses on Thursday, May 9th at various times throughout the day. This is a spiritual tradition where nurses say a special prayer.

Saint Vincent Hospital is hosting its annual Nursing Award Ceremony on Wednesday, May 8th in the hospital Atrium. At this event, the nurse rookie of the year, honorary nurse of the year, Daisy Award winner, and the Allied Angel Wing award recipients will be recognized.
“I am honored to work with such a dedicated and caring team of nurses,” said JoAnn Piedrafite, Chief Nursing Officer at Saint Vincent Hospital. “The nurses here at Saint Vincent Hospital help make Worcester a Community Built on Care. Our nurses go above and beyond the call of duty to provide the highest level of care possible to our patients.”
