WORCESTER, Mass. - Saint Vincent Hospital hosted a heart health fair Wednesday to help give people information they need to keep their hearts healthy.

The hospital offered services like free blood pressure screenings, CPR demonstrations and nutrition plans. Saint Vincent's chief of cardiology Dr. Douglas Laidlaw said everyday heart health begins with prevention, like maintaining a healthy weight, keeping a healthy diet, avoiding smoking and controlling cholesterol.

"Every little thing helps," Laidlaw said. "Even just staying active, walking regularly and receiving regular exercise can go a long way to maintaining heart health."

Laidlaw said the most common symptoms of heart disease would be chest pain or chest pressure usually associated with exertion or exercise.
