May 21, 2021

Recruitment efforts remain strong as candidates express considerable interest in ideal schedules and shifts

Worcester, MA –  Saint Vincent Hospital is proud to share the success of its nurse recruitment efforts as it extends offers to the first group of permanent replacement nurses. They will be taking the place of those participating in the on-going strike by the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA). There are many other prospective candidates at various stages of the application process for the first and second waves, and the hospital’s recruitment team is actively screening applicants and conducting interviews. In addition, the hospital continues to welcome back nurses who have crossed the picket line.

“We are proud of our long history of delivering high-quality care in our community, and we are enthusiastically welcoming both our own nurses who have decided to come back, as well as those who are new to the Saint Vincent Hospital family,” said Saint Vincent Hospital CEO, Carolyn Jackson. “While we continue to hope for a resolution with the MNA, we are moving forward with our long-term plan to ensure a stable and consistent nursing team.”

The hospital is hiring additional permanent replacement nurses to support the close to 150 nurses who have returned to work, and enhance continuity of care as the strike by the MNA continues. The hospital’s recruitment effort is currently focused on the 102 posted permanent replacement nursing positions. The postings include emergency department, PACU, same day medical and same day surgery positions with 32 or more hours per week, as well as positions in some smaller departments with full-time and weekday shifts available. Additionally all day shift positions scheduled for 32 hours or more per week in critical care and all but one inpatient med-surg unit are posted.

The positions are posted and can be applied for by visiting the Careers section of the hospital’s website at www.StVincentHospital.com/Careers.
