Saint Vincent Hospital Recognized By Mayor for Heart Month
Feb 27, 2019Worcester, MA – February 27, 2019 - Saint Vincent Hospital in Massachusetts is excited to be recognized by Mayor Joseph Petty in honor of Heart Month 2019!
“Our heart and vascular team works diligently to provide specialized, high-quality care to each patient that comes through our doors needing cardiac services,” shared Ava Collins, Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Saint Vincent Hospital. “Whether it is a heart cath, abnormal heartbeat, cardiac rehabilitation or more advanced heart surgery, our team is ready to help. It is a great honor to receive this proclamation and recognition from Mayor Petty.”
The proclamation was issued on February 8, 2019 and reads:
WHEREAS: February is American Heart Month. Cardiovascular disease affects people of all races and ethnicities. Every 43 seconds, someone in the United States suffers a heart attack. More than 600,000 Americans die from heart disease each year, making it the leading cause of death for both men and women; and
WHEREAS: New treatments and therapies are more effective and medical advancements are less invasive with fewer complications and recovery is quicker; and
WHEREAS: The Cardiovascular Prevention and Fitness Program at St. Vincent Hospital purpose is to educate participants on controlling cholesterol, lowering blood pressure and reducing stress which are all contributing factors in heart disease; and
WHEREAS: The Cardiovascular Prevention and Fitness Program at St. Vincent Hospital is a twelve week program educating participants about daily exercise, dietary changes, bad and good fats, plaque in the arteries and sodium to prevent another heart attack and gives them a second chance at life; and
WHEREAS: Worcester is the Heart of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and we strive to be a healthier community and this program is helping us to achieve our goal.
THEREFORE: I, Mayor Joseph M. Petty honor all healthcare professionals who are working to prevent heart disease in the City of Worcester by proclaiming February as HEART MONTH and encourage all residents to recognize and participate in its observance.
