Are you a candidate for cancer rehabilitation services at Saint Vincent Hospital? The criteria below can help you determine if you or a loved one is a good candidate for cancer rehab services.

You may be a candidate for cancer physical therapy if you have:

  • Trouble getting out of bed
  • Trouble getting up from a chair, toilet, etc.
  • A history of recent/frequent falls
  • Excessive fatigue/shortness of breath with normal activity
  • Pain limiting your normal activity
  • Excessive swelling of arms/legs, head/neck or face

If you’ve not yet started treatment, consider if prehabilitation may be right for you.

Occupational Therapy

You may be a candidate for cancer occupational therapy if you have:

  • Trouble performing activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing or toileting)
  • Stiffness limiting movement of your arms
  • Pain limiting movement of arms/hands
  • Weakness of the arms/hands
  • Trouble grasping/holding on to objects
  • Excessive swelling of arms/legs, head/neck or face

Speech Therapy

You may be a candidate for cancer speech therapy if you have:

  • Trouble swallowing
  • Trouble opening your jaw
  • Trouble with your memory
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Trouble forming words
  • Trouble with speech or voice

A prescription for cancer prehabilitation or rehabilitation services is needed for treatment at Saint Vincent Hospital.
