The Center for Women & Infants at Saint Vincent Hospital is committed to promoting and supporting breastfeeding with evidence-based best practices. Research shows that Breastfeeding provides many health benefits to both baby and mother.
Our goal is to provide a warm, supportive environment as families welcome their new babies into the world.
Lactation Services, also known as breastfeeding support and education at Saint Vincent Hospital include:
In-patient services: Our team consists of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) as well as Registered Nurses who have had extensive breastfeeding education. Many of our nurses are Lactation Counselors (CLCs) as
well. Our team is here to support you in reaching your infant feeding goals.
Lactation “warmline”: Available for non-urgent breastfeeding advice. Messages can be left at 508-363-7499 and one of our Lactation Consultants will return your call.
Breastfeeding/Pumping Room: Available in the Center for Women & Infants for hospital staff and visitors who wish to have a private place to nurse their infant or express their milk.
Pasteurized Donor Human Milk (PDHM) Program: We are proud to offer PDHM as an alternative and bridge to successful exclusive breast milk feeding when supplementation is medically indicated and mother’s own milk is not available.
The Center for Women & Infants at Saint Vincent Hospital was the first hospital in Massachusetts to have PDHM from the Mother’s Milk Bank Northeast for term newborns.
