I had just had a very negative interaction with a service provider, which led me to come to St. Vincent for a second opinion. It was like night and day. Lauren listened to my concerns, she let me vent my frustrations, she spent time going over my MRI and explained why I wasn't a good candidate for knee surgery, and she came up with a plan for me moving forward. Then when I called a few days later with questions about the surgery, she called me back within the hour. She was also very courteous.

Went to another orthopedic surgeon at St. Vincent hospital and they gave me 4 cortisone shots left shoulder, one in the front, another in the back, and two inside shoulder and one worked. Went to Dr. Desio and found right spot within a minute and gave me cortisone shot on top which worked great.

An incredible balance providing some negative news (arthritic knees) with extraordinarily positive recommendations and advice that can be followed. Lauren Gallant exceeded all expectations, both for myself and my husband who came in with me. She is intelligent, responsive, incredibly well-informed, highly talented in communicating basic and essential information, able even to ANTICIPATE a patient's questions, provides context AND encouragement, and very importantly; she is able to translate her intelligence, my questions, and her advice into do-able, day-to-day recommendations. She inspires me to go from (in her terms) rehab to becoming fit, without once suggesting this is the path I should take. Lauren is above-and-beyond patient-centered. I made the comment at the end of our session that even though there's no need, I would like to check in with Lauren twice yearly. She is a breath of fresh air! In addition to being impressed, and grateful, for Lauren's conservative approach to knee complications (an approach preferred by Dr. Desio's office, I was informed), I am completely relieved that my rehab has been successful following her recommendations from a prior visit for care and for engaging in physical therapy. What a treasure!
