About Ricardo Bello
Dr. Ricardo Bello is an experienced, board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 18 years of experience in a wide array of complex, life-saving procedures and cardiac care. These include minimally invasive Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, Valve Repair/Replacement, Aortic Surgery and Mechanical Circulatory Support. Dr. Bello emphasizes individualized treatment plans and guides patients through the best treatment options for their health care needs. During his career, Dr. Bello has held many leadership positions including, Director of Thoracic Surgery at St. Barnabas Hospital, and Director of Quality Assurance for Cardiothoracic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. He joins the team at St. Vincent Medical Group after having served for 7 years at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Bello has a special interest in biostatistics that has led to co-authoring numerous peer-reviewed medical journal articles. He has also served as an investigator on several multi-institutional studies conducted through the NIH-sponsored Cardiothoracic Surgery Network. Dr. Bello is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Outside the office, Dr. Bello enjoys spending time with family, open water diving, cooking, and at times, proudly serving his community as a Cardiac Life Support Instructor.

Doctor Bello made a great first impression on both me and my wife. He was very friendly and explained the procedure in great detail. He responded in clear language to every concern and question that we asked and he verified that we clearly understood what he was communicating. He put us at ease and made us comfortable. He often asked if we had any more questions or concerns - even as we were preparing to leave. His responses and general comments made it clear that he took pride in his role. He was inspiring.

The receptionist, Margaret, was excellent.- very pleasant, knowledgeable, good at expressing herself and communicating. She answered all of our many questions and ensured that we understood what she communicated. She went out of her was to set up the follow-up tests in a very timely manner so as to obtain a very near term surgery date for me.

She really was so helpful. She went over every aspect of my surgery and explained to me what was going to happen. Explained what tubes would be in my body and went over what was going to happen day by day.

Very pleased with everybody in Dr. Bello's office. The surgical scheduling coordinator was very, very personable and helpful. Also his nurse was very pleasant and understanding. And Dr. Bello himself was of course very knowledgeable and uplifting. Explaining everything extremely well and offering up yet another option. That option was what I chose and was a huge relief to my mind.

This was a procedure entirely unexpected- I had no time to think about anything. Dr. Bello explained things without going into great detail , as to not scaring me, which I very much appreciated. He also did my surgery the next morning- which I am very grateful for

I initially met with Doctor Bello's assistant. She was very attentive reviewing my post surgery xray to the xray taken the day of my appointment. After review, she awaited Dr Bello who had just returned to the office from surgery. She presented my information to Dr Bello, he listened to my concerns and recommended a catscan to get a better idea of my situation as to whether some of the sternum wires need to be removed.

Overall my surgery was very successful, I feel like I have a second chance and i'm very grateful. My follow-up was pleasant, the receptionist was nice and humorous, I haven't smiled like that in a long time. The entire experience has made me appreciate more in life and l will never forget the entire experience. Sending much Love and praise to Dr. Bellos' and his entire staff.
