Jennifer Sargent, DO, FACP

Associate Program Director

Dr. Jennifer Sargent is an Associate Program Director and the Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Saint Vincent Hospital. She is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School.

Dr. Sargent is a board-certified internist specializing in hospital medicine. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. She completed her residency training at Saint Vincent Hospital and subsequently served as Chief Resident from 2008 to 2009. She has extensive experience in hospital medicine and medical education and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Throughout her career, Dr. Sargent has been recognized for excellence in patient care, teaching, and mentorship. She received the Saint Vincent Hospital Hospitalist Program Service Recognition Award in 2011, the Vanguard Health Systems Compassionate Caregiver Award in 2013, the Saint Vincent Hospital Department of Medicine Excellence in Inpatient Teaching Award, and the Outstanding Coach Award in both 2016 and 2017. More recently, she received the 2024–2025 Teacher of the Year Award from UMass Chan Medical School at Milford Regional Medical Center and the 2025 Excellence in Hospitalist Medicine Award from UMass Memorial Health – Milford Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Sargent has extensive training and experience in point-of-care ultrasound, including completion of the Society of Hospital Medicine Point-of-Care Ultrasound Certificate of Completion. She serves as a portfolio reviewer for the Society of Hospital Medicine POCUS Certificate of Completion program. At Saint Vincent Hospital, she has been teaching point-of-care ultrasound to internal medicine residents for more than seven years and has developed and leads the program’s longitudinal POCUS curriculum.
