Training at Saint Vincent Hospital provides excellent diagnostic and procedural training opportunities. The absence of fellows is key in ensuring that residents are at the forefront in taking the lead in planning and performing interventional procedures.
Residents are the primary lead of weekly interdisciplinary conferences held with the departments of Neurology, Gastroenterology, Breast Surgery, ENT and Hematology/Oncology.
Training at SVH radiology means to be joining a close-knit group of residents and teaching staff. Many of the current staff have trained as residents themselves and are very passionate about the program’s mission in training excellent radiologists.
Residents enjoy reading out individual cases with their assigned attendings with additional support given to first-year residents through pairing with a senior when on new rotations.
Training in a Community Setting
Saint Vincent Hospital is located in Worcester, which is the second largest city in New England only one hour from downtown Boston. As such, Worcester boasts a very diverse patient population. Residents are exposed to an incredibly diverse range of pathology
on clinical rotations and by the time of graduation, trainees will be proficient in all aspects of radiology diagnoses and procedures.
It cannot be over-stated enough how big of an advantage it is to train as a resident in a program without fellows and the success of our residents is the sole focus of the entire department. By the end of the first year, residents will already feel confident
in performing minor imaging-guided procedures under supervision and will be ready to take call independently.
Saint Vincent Hospital Radiology has a long lineage of successfully preparing and transitioning their residents in obtaining excellent fellowship positions at their top ranked locations not only in the Northeast but across the entire United States and
Resident wellness is a top priority within the hospital and department and many services are in place by the GME curriculum to ensure an optimal work-life balance. The program also boasts its own wellness staff and resident-led wellness program to organize
funded events and social outings.
